Mills Marine and Ship Repair, LLC is hiring for experienced First Class Fitters for Full-Time EmploymentJob Descriptiono Complete lay outs using drawings and/or templates and/or by picking up and developing the geometry required from lofting flooro Physical assembly in prefabrication and erection on the building site of individual structural elements or prefabricated panels and three-dimensional sub-assemblieso Sequencing of assembly and fittingo Proficiency in use of tools and equipment such as:
come-along, hydraulic jacks, wedges, dogs, speed wrenches, spiders, planes, saws, chain falls, bandsaws, turn buckles, grinders, sheers, press brakes, plate rollers, bending machines, operation of forklift to perform functions inherent to the jobo Some minor rigging ability not normally requiring the use of overhead craneso Print reading abilityo Tack welding with stick and semi-automatic welding equipmento Advanced level experience with the use of cutting torches and heat torches in plate heat- straightening and shrinkageo Ability to provide instructions to other Fitterso Some working knowledge with stainless steel and aluminumo Advanced knowledge and full qualification with the following:
o Brackets, Angle stiffeners, Alignment, Collars, Liners, Doublers (slot weld), Forming & Flame Shrinking, Distortion Prevention/Correction, Templating & Targeting, Lay-out & Scribing, Non-tight member inserts, Bulkhead & deck inserts, Edge preparations (butt, corner, tee lap, and edge joints; single & double:
square, bevel, V, J, U, and flare),Shell plating inserts & renewal, Shell plating (multi-strake renewals), Tack welding (steel- SMAW & FCAW), Tack welding (aluminum- GMAW), Fracture excavation techniqueso Water & oil stops, Joint considerations- transition and stress, Final cutting & beveling (hand torch), rat holes, scallops & compensation, shop and field fabrication for steel and aluminumo Burning testing, local air testing, commercial and government air testing, tank hydrostatic testing, Safe handling, use and storage of gasses, Safe work practices and PPE, Safe tank opening practices, Lock Out/Tag Out, Confined space practices, Respirator fit, Safety harness, Oil spill response, Safe welding practices (29 CFR) Hot work, FirewatchQualificationso Burn, cut pipe, bend pipeo Tack weld with Carbon, Stainless Steel, Copper nickel, and Aluminumo Install simple systems without the use of blueprints and drawingso Understand functions of all systems and componentso Understand corrosion prevention and groundingo Determine and apply joint and system toleranceso Ability to obtain a DBIDS is a PLUSo Have a Working knowledge with the following codes, regulations, and specifications:
