Job Description Sentara Home Care is currently recruiting for a Full-time, Day Shift RN for the Suffolk area.
Job Summary/Purpose:
Develops, implements and evaluates plans of care for specific patient populations. Coordinates and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to facilitate integrated and comprehensive care. Possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
The performance of any nursing act involving the observation, care and counsel of individuals who are ill, injured or experiencing changes in normal health processes or the maintenance of health; in the prevention of illness or disease; in the supervison and teaching of those who are or will be involved in nursing care; in the delegation of selected nursing tasks and procedures to appropriately trained unlicensed persons as determined by the Board; or in the administration of medications and treatments as prescribed by any person authorized by law to prescribe such medications and treatment. Professional nursing, registered nursing and registered professional nursing require specialized education, judgment and skill based upon knowledge and application of principles from the biological, physical, social, behavioral and nursing sciences (Excerpt from the State Board Regulations).
Minimum
Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
BSN preferred. Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty.
Experience:
1 year recent acute care / med surg or home care experience required.
Licensure:
Currently licensed to practice as RN by the Commonwealth of Virginia or a recognized Compact State.
Other:
Current BLS Certification required. Must meet any requirements defined by specific specialty.
Physical Requirements:
Moderate to heavy lifting; moderate carrying; straight pulling; pushing; reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; walking; standing; kneeling; repeated bending; climbing; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination sumultaneously; near vision correctable; far vision correctable; hearing (aid permitted); working closely with others; working alone; protracted or irregular hours of work.
