Full Time Payroll Clerk

Starr Motors is currently seeking a full time Payroll Clerk. Duties include:
o Compiles payroll data such as hours worked; sales volume, bonuses, and commissions; monies to be withheld for taxes; employee contributions to insurance and retirement plans; etc., from time sheets and other records.
o Updates master payroll records by verifying and recording changes affecting net wages such as federal and state tax exemptions, insurance coverage, etc., and data concerning compensation increases, promotions, and/or transfer of employees between departments.
o Computes wages and deductions, reviews for accuracy, and posts to payroll records.
o Prepares and issues paychecks.
o Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
o Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
o Prepares/files all hiring and termination paperwork including COBRA letters.
o Maintains records for vacations and sick-day eligibility.
o Processes all employee insurance forms and insurance payments in coordination with office manager.
o Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local employment and employee relations laws.
o Organizes and develops training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
o Answers incoming phone calls in a prompt, polite, professional manner.
o Maintains professional appearance and neat work area.
o Other duties may be assigned.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
